Seeking the Long Distance Market

Over the past few years our industry has een a significant growth in the interest in long range shooting. As the accuracy
of firearms and ammunition has increased steadily,
so has the need for optics and reticles as tools for the
shooting enthusiast. Here at Swarovski Optik, we
have tried to stay ahead of the curve on these long
distance tools, but also been very careful to market
them in way to communicate to the hunter that it
is very important to practice with them before attempting to harvest game at great distances.
Swarovski Optik has had significant product
improvements in our lines such as the Z6 and the
Z5 riflescopes, which have really changed the land-
the specific bullet and ballistics. The Ballistic tur-
ret is physically part of the rifle scope and allows
the shooter to set up color coded sight distance for
specific distances and calibers. We have developed

times zoom that we
introduced, gave the
shooter a versatility
that had really never
been seen in a hunting scope. With the 6
times magnification
in scopes such as a 1-
6x24 or the 2-12x50, it
gives the hunter a scope
he can use in the whitetail
woods with low magnification
and wide field of view as well as the
ability to go all the way to 12 power to
be able to make those long shots as well.
The introduction of the Z5 line, which is
a one-inch scope with 5 times zoom such
as the 5-25x50, really emphasized many
of the features of a 30 mm scope such as
our patented 4-coil spring system into a
one inch body.
Along with these revolutionary new
scopes came some new long distance
reticles such as our BRX reticle and the
Ballistic turret system. The BRX is a long
distance reticle that allows the shooter
to set up the marker bars according to
eyes open for faster target acquisition dur-
ing close range shooting. The ends of the
marker bars are designed for wind com-
pensation up to 20 mph, and the marker
bars and dots provide precise long range
capability.
